Dr. Sathiyaraj George is a board-certified Internist practicing in Mission since 1997. He received his undergraduate medical degree (MBBS) from Madurai Medical College, Madurai, India in 1987. He completed his postgraduate medical degree (M.D.) from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, India in 1992.

After completing his Internal Medicine Residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. George came to the Rio Grande Valley in 1997. He was working as the Medical Director at Nuestra Clinica Del Valle, a community health center serving underprivileged patients in the Hidalgo County. He started his private practice in 2001 with a mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive and affordable health care to the Rio Grande Valley Community. Now the practice has grown as Valley Internal Medicine Associates consists of 3 board-certified internists and 3 nurse practitioners.

Dr. George is also board-certified in Sleep Medicine. He was awarded the FACP (Fellow of the American College of Physicians) in 2017, a mark of distinction representing the pinnacle of integrity, professionalism and contribution to the community beyond practicing medicine. He enjoys teaching medical students and residents. His hobbies include reading, playing chess, hiking and traveling.

Dr. Socrates Garrigos

Dr. Socrates A. Garrigos has been a practicing physician for 23 years and has served the Rio Grande Valley since 1997. He began his graduate studies at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi and completed his internship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Following his internship, Dr. Garrigos completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center in Arizona.

Having completed his residency, Dr. Garrigos worked as an Associate Staff Physician by the National Emergency Services at the outpatient Clinic of Raymond W. Bliss Army Community Hospital for a year, serving both personal in active duty and civilian service. In the following years, Dr. Garrigos worked as a hospitalist for several hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley region.

In 2003, Dr. Garrigos established his private practice under the name Socrates A. Garrigos MD PA. Here, he provides diagnosis and treatment of the local adult population at area hospitals, as well as outpatient diagnosis, management and treatment of Hidalgo county population. Dr. Garrigos has proudly been a member of the ACO since 2016 and is honored to serve as a provider.

Professional medical memberships include the Mayo Alumni Association and diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
