
Dr. Alfredo Lopez has served as a leader and a mentor for the medical community. He began his dedication at Pan American University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He went on to attend the University of Texas Health and Science Center San Antonio Medical School. Upon graduation he completed his residency program at UTHSCSA McAllen Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Lopez is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice, Diplomat. He practices as a solo private primary care physician in McAllen, Texas.
Dr. Lopez has established himself as an active mentor to future practitioners, serving as an Assistant professor for the UTHSCSA and McAllen Family Practice Residency program. In addition, he has been a formal preceptor, leading rotations and presentations in practice management, OB/Med, and conferences with residents. This leadership has not been limited to students, but also review of issues related to improving faculty teaching methods.
In addition to local facility projects, Dr. Lopez has participated in numerous research projects including Healthy People 2000 and a clinical project aimed at improving patient compliance.
Professional affiliations and memberships include American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Statewide Family Practice Preceptorship Program, Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society, and the Border Health Caucus
Hospital affiliations include Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, McAllen Medical Center, and the McAllen Heart Hospital.
